When buying a new Air conditioning unit you want to get the highest SEER rating you can afford.(Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) The higher the number the higher the efficiency. The minimum is 13 SEER, they go up from there. A high efficiency unit installed on a poor undersized leaky duct system will not give you the savings you would expect, so have your ducts tested before you buy.
